How to Decorate Front Door Entrances
Simple decor touches can make a front door entrance area more inviting to guests or anyone who walks up to your home. Change decor accents to match the season and choose decorations based on how much space you have near your front door. Paint both sides of your front door with colors that match the color scheme of the house. For example, dark, rich colors such as burgundy, forest green or plum work well, as long as the house showcases these shades on the shutters or exterior. Place a welcome mat on the ground in front of the door. Choose a basic mat that says "welcome" or choose a mat that resembles stones, leaves or other nature themes. You can find all sorts of welcome mats to match just about any personality or style.

Place a potted plant on the right or left hand side of the door near the entrance. You may need to bring this plant indoors at certain times of the year, depending on where you live. You can also choose a large silk plant that looks similar to a real baby palm tree or fern plant.

Hang a wreath on the door that matches the season and change the wreath as new holidays or seasons begin. A fall wreath might include decorative red, green, orange and burgundy silk maple leaves and tiny pumpkins. A spring wreath can showcase pink, purple and yellow silk roses.
