1
Put on the sweater and dab tap water on the bumps with your fingers. When the fabric dries, the bumps will disappear. This is the quickest method if you do not soak the entire sweater. A light coat of water should suffice. The more you saturate the sweater, the longer it will take to dry.

2
Place the sweater in a washing machine and set the cycle to delicate. A short spin in the washer should work the bumps out of the fabric. Dry the sweater by placing it in the dryer afterward. A moderate heat setting will remove the moisture without damaging the material.

3
Spread the sweater out on an ironing board and set the iron to the appropriate setting for the fabric. Iron the sweater to remove any bumps in the fabric.

4
Turn the sweater inside out when you return it to your closest. Any bumps that form due to the hangers will form facing inward. These inward-facing bumps will even out when you put the sweater on again.
