1. Stand in front of a mirror. Put three fingers across the length of your forehead. If there is room for all three fingers, then you likely then you have a high forehead. Glance down at your chin and decide if it is pointy. If so, your face shape is triangular. Choose a haircut with full bangs that sweep across your forehead.

2. Look straight on into a mirror and look at your jaw line. If you have a strong, angular jaw, it's likely that you have a square face shape. Choose a flat-top hairstyle or one that is short and messy on top.

3. Touch your jaw line with your fingers. If there is a fair amount of fat covering the jaw line, and if you have full cheeks, it is likely that you have a round face shape. The best haircut is one that makes your face look thinner. Medium-length wavy hair with an off-center part is the ideal haircut for a round face.

4. Examine your profile in a mirror. If it seems that your face is long, or oblong, get a haircut that tricks the eye. Try a haircut that is short on the sides and longer in front. Keeping the hairline hidden makes your face appear shorter.
