How to Fix Lags in Java
Java is a programming language that allows computers to play online games. If you're having lag times while playing games online, there are a few things you can do to correct the problem. The most common causes of lag times involve the Internet cache, insufficient RAM (Random Access Memory) or CPU (Central Processing Unit) usage, and out-of-date software on the system.

1
Open your Internet Explorer browser and click on the "Tools" icon. Click on the "Browsing History" icon and then click the "Delete" button. Click all of the options to delete the cache and temporary files on the system.

2
Close all of the programs that aren't necessary to the system while you're playing your game. Right-click on the "Task Bar" and then click on the "Task Manager" icon. Click on the "Processes" tab and then right-click on the programs that you want to close. Click the "End Process" icon.

Click the "Start" button and then click on the "Control Panel" icon. Click on the "Repeat delay" and "Repeat rate" options. Change the values so you don't jam up the CPU with data while typing. The repeat delay and repeat rate are represented by sliders; move the sliders farther to the left to lower the values.

Install more RAM in your computer. This can typically be done by opening the computer tower and installing RAM into the "RAM Ports." RAM doors are found on the bottom of laptops and give access to the RAM ports. Remove the RAM door and slide RAM cards into the RAM ports.

5
Check the CPU speed and upgrade the CPU if needed. CPUs can be found at local computer-parts stores. If you don't feel comfortable installing a new CPU in your system, have a professional do it for you.

Click the "Start" button and then type "Windows Update" into the "Search" box. Click on the "Windows Update" icon from the menu and then click on the "Check for updates" icon on the left side of the screen. Wait for the updates to appear on the screen and then click on the "Install Updates" icon from the bottom of the menu. Installing updated software will fix any bugs or glitches you may have on your system from out-of-date software.
