However, when you forget the leftovers for two weeks or leave the milk in the refrigerator for a month after the expiration date, stinky odors result.       Clean out the refrigerator by removing all the food inside it and washing it out with soap and water. Dry the inside with a towel and put the food back in, minus anything that is expired, moldy or unidentifiable.

      Pour some baking soda into a saucepan and place it in the refrigerator to absorb the odors. Leave the refrigerator unplugged, if possible, with the door open to allow it to air out as well.
