How to Use 10-Key by Touch
The 10-key number pad contains the numbers zero through nine, as well as keys for basic computation. They keys are arranged in five rows and four columns, with the numbers and decimal key surrounded on the upper and right hand sides by number lock, division, multiplication, subtraction, addition and enter keys. Knowing how to use the 10-key system without looking can greatly increase your typing speed.

Position your right hand such that your index finger is resting on the "4" key, your middle finger on the "5," your ring finger on the "6," your pinkie on the "+" key and your thumb on the "0" button. This is know as the resting position, and should be the position you default to when using a 10-key.

Use your index finger to press the "Num Lock," "7," "4" and "1" keys by moving it up and down from the resting position.

Move you middle finger up and down to access the "/," "8," "5" and "2" keys.

Shift your ring finger up and down to press the "*," "9," "6," "3" and "." keys.

Press the "-," "+" and "Enter" keys by moving your pinkie finger up and down.

Feel for the raised bump on the "5" key to return to the home position without having to look at the 10-key.
