Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Understand that Madame Alexander dolls are collector-quality, fine dolls that are designed to be displayed and not played with.

  2. Step 2

Realize that each doll is produced in limited quantities. If you do not purchase a doll when it comes out, you must purchase it from a collector.

  3. Step 3

Choose dolls you like or that you believe will increase in value.

  4. Step 4

Look for Madame Alexander dolls in fine doll shops and online on collectors' and auction sites.

  5. Step 5

Know that Madame Alexander dolls are created to portray special moments in history, literature, movies, mythology, girls' lives and fairy tales.

  6. Step 6

Decide whether you wish to base your collection around a certain line such as literature.

  7. Step 7

Browse the Madame Alexander Doll Company Web site to view current dolls, which include Little Orphan Annie, the Wizard of Oz collection, Betty Boop and dolls to commemorate birthdays, communions and weddings.

  8. Step 8

Expect to spend about $80 and up for a new doll and more for previous years' dolls.

  9. Step 9

Keep your dolls in a case so that they are preserved.

  10. Step 10

Purchase a doll price guide so that you have an idea of how much to pay for previous years' dolls.

  11. Step 11

Talk to collectors in your area or on the Internet to learn more about the Madame Alexander line.

on 11/22/2005 Keep the Madame Alex Blue Box and the pink tissue paper if you want to resell the doll at some point. (Collapse the box, rubber band it, and store it in a manila envelope with the name of the doll on the envelope to save space.)
