How to Mute an iMac

The iMac is an all-in-one desktop computer developed by Apple. This all-in-one feature means that the computer's components -- including the speakers -- are built into the LCD display. Using the iMac's wireless mouse or keyboard, you can mute the sound on the speakers. Muting the sound instantly turns the speakers off and silences the computer without having to turn down the volume manually.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Apple icon located at the top-left corner of your iMac's main toolbar.

    • 2

      Select the "System Preferences" option.

    • 3

      Click the "Sound" option.

    • 4

Check the box to the left of the "Mute" option to mute the sound on your iMac.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also mute your iMac by pressing the "F10" key.
