How to Sew a Crochet Tablecloth
Crocheting a large piece such as a tablecloth may seem like a daunting task to a beginning crocheter. But a large tablecloth consists of many smaller components you can make one at a time as your schedule permits. One option for a tablecloth is to use the granny crochet square as the basic piece. Once you have crocheted all the squares, the only task that remains is to sew them together.

1
Chain 4 stitches, then join them together with a slip stitch to form a ring.
-
2
Crochet Round 1 by chaining 3, then stitch 2 double crochet stitches in the ring. Finish the round by alternately chaining 2 stitches and stitching 3 double crochets.

-
3
Work Round 2 by slip stitching in the next 2 double crochets and in the chain 2 space. Chain 3, then stitch 2 double crochets. Chain 2, then stitch 3 double crochets. Chain 2, then stitch 2 double crochets. Repeat until the end of the round. Complete Round 3 with the same pattern.
-
4
Create Round 4 by stitching a slip stitch in the next double crochet. Stitch the corner space by stitching 3 double crochets, chaining 2 and stitching 3 double crochets. Next, chain 1, then double crochet in an alternating pattern until you reach the corner. Repeat. Complete Round 5 with the same pattern. Fasten off. Decide the dimensions of your tablecloth, then crochet as many of these 6-inch squares as necessary.

5
Place the squares side by side, wrong side up. Begin sewing from the bottom, using the whip stitch. Insert the needle in the loops of the double crochet stitches, starting from the right side. Continue to sew the sides of squares together through the loops on each side.
-
6
Sew other squares to either side of the original two squares to create a row. Continue to form rows of squares until your tablecloth is the size you desire. Sew the rows together using the same method. Weave in all loose ends.
