Step-by-Step to Post an Add on Craigslist
Craigslist started as and remains a mostly free site for its participants. You can look for a job, find a new car and reconnect with that cutie you saw in the coffee shop yesterday all thanks to Craigslist classified ads. Then when you are ready to sell that great car, you can post your own ad on Craigslist. It's free to post most ads. There are fees to post job ads in select cities, brokered apartment rentals in NYC and for therapeutic ads in all United States cities.

Open a Web browser, and type Craigslist.org in the URL field.

Click on the city for which you want to post your ad. A list of cities, states and countries is located on the right side of the Craigslist homepage.

Click "Post to Classifieds" on the left side of the page.

Click the radio button next to the type of ad you are posting. A list of categories appears. Select the category for your ad, and click "Continue." Depending on the city in which you are posting, a screen with different areas in your city appears. Select an area, and then click "Continue."

Create your ad. Enter a title in the Posting Title text field. Enter a price and a specific location in the provided text fields if you want it to appear next to the title.

Enter an email address to which you want people to reply if they are interested in your ad. You can choose to have your email address hidden but remember to include contact information somewhere in the body of your ad.

Enter the rest of your ad in the "Posting Description" text field. If you want to include a picture or image in your ad, click the "Add /Edit Images" button under the Posting Description field. Click "Browse" in the pop-up, then navigate to and select the picture or image from your computer. Click "Continue" when you are finished creating your ad. A preview of your ad appears.

Proofread your ad on the preview screen. If you need or want to make any changes, click the "Edit" button. Once you are satisfied with the ad, click "Continue."

Go to the email account you entered in step 6. Open the email from Craigslist, and click the link in the email. You have one more chance to proofread and edit the ad.

Click "Publish." Your ad should appear on Craigslist within 15 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the email from Craigslist. If you want to edit or delete your ad, click the link in the email and follow the on-screen prompts. Check your email regularly after you list, to check for interested buyers. As a courtesy, you should always delete your ad when your item has sold.
