MySQL Xampp Is Slow

If you find that your XAMPP configuration with MySQL is running slowly, this is likely due to a firewall or anti-virus error. XAMPP is an all-in-one application that includes the Apache web server, MySQL, PHP and Perl; developers primarily use this program to test Web projects on their computer. Due to the way XAMPP is configured, many users have experienced errors when using it in conjunction with anti-virus or firewall software.

Instructions

1. Open your firewall or anti-virus software. Typically there will be an icon in the system tray in the bottom-right of your screen.

2. Look through the options to find if there is a 'game mode' or similar. This is a mode used for playing video games -- another instance where anti-virus or firewall software slows performance. If your software has such a mode, enable it and then use XAMPP.

3. Disable the software entirely, if you do not have a game mode. Right-click the system tray icon and click "Disable" or "Turn Off" or similar from the list of options. Remember to re-enable it after you have finished using XAMPP.
