How to Change the Font Used in Microsoft Word

You can change the fonts in your Microsoft Word 97 and 2000 (for PC) and 98 (for Macintosh) documents in two ways. You may want to use one font for headlines and subheads and another font for the body text within your documents to provide a more professional look to them.

Things You'll Need:

    Change the Font Using the Font Menu

  1. Step 1

    Select the text you want to change to a different font.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the Font menu in the Formatting toolbar.

  3. Step 3

    Select the font you want to use.

  4. Change the Font Using the Format Menu

  5. Step 1

    Select the text you want to change to a different font.

  6. Step 2

    Go to the Format menu.

  7. Step 3

    Select Font. The Font window opens.

  8. Step 4

    Select the Font tab, if it is not already selected.

  9. Step 5

    Select the font you want to use in the font window.

Tips & Warnings
  • In the Font window, you can also select font size, style, underline features, text color and text effects.
  • Some fonts contain submenus that include italic, bold, or bold italic versions of the font.
