How to Make Layered Popsicle Soap
Homemade soaps with a glycerin base can be molded into may different shapes. These soaps can be used as decorations, given as gifts or simply used to get hands clean. Children, in particular, prefer soap in shapes that remind them of something they like, such as Popsicles. In fact, children can even help their parents create the homemade Popsicle soaps with not just one, but two layers.
Things You'll Need
- Popsicle mold
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 2 medium-size microwaveable bowls
- Glycerin
- Disposable spoons
- Essential oils
- 2 soap colorants
Instructions

1
Spray a Popsicle mold made to hold six Popsicles with nonstick cooking spray. This will make it easier for you to extract the soap Popsicles after they harden.
-
2
Cut 1 pound of glycerin into 1-inch chunks. Place half of the chunks in one medium-size bowl, and half in the other.
-
-
3
Melt the glycerin soap chunks in the microwave in 30-second increments until they have completely melted. Stir the melted soap with a disposable spoon.
-
4
Add 1/4 teaspoon of your favorite essential oil to each bowl of melted glycerin. The essential oil you choose will provide the scent for the Popsicle soap, so you may want to choose from the following essential oils: peppermint, lemon, orange, vanilla or chocolate essential oil.
-
5
Drip in five to eight drops of a soap colorant in your first bowl, and five to eight drops of a different color soap colorant in your second bowl. This way you can distinguish between the layers.
-
6
Pour the contents of the first bowl down into the Popsicle molds. Stop when the soap reaches the halfway mark. Immediately stick the tips of your Popsicle sticks in each of the Popsicle molds.
-
7
Hold the Popsicle sticks (you may need an extra pair of hands) until the soap begins to harden. This will occur within five to 10 minutes.
-
8
Finish the layered Popsicle soaps by pouring the contents of the second bowl in the molds until the soap reaches the top. Set them aside for two to three hours to completely harden before popping the layered Popsicle soaps out of the molds.
