1
Lay a piece of origami paper flat on your work surface with the color you prefer for your donkey face-down. For example, if want your donkey to be gray and your origami paper is gray on one side and white on the other, lay the gray side on the table.
-
2
Make a diagonal fold across the square piece to create a triangle. Unfold the paper, and rotate the square so the corners are facing up, down and to each side.

3
Place your pointer finger on the corner that is pointed directly toward you. Grab the left corner, and fold it over so the edge lines up with the center crease. Repeat the process on the right side. The resulting figure should look like a kite.
-
4
Grab the left-top corner of the kite, and fold the edge over so it lines up with the center crease. Do the same on the left side. The figure should now look like a diamond.
-
5
Slide your pointer finger into the pocket that was just created by folding over the top diamond edges. Gently pull down, and press the piece so you make a long point. The edges must still match with the center crease. Repeat the fold on the other side of the figure. The figure should still resemble a diamond, but now it will appear to have a kite figure inside the diamond.
-
6
Flip the figure over, and fold it in half along the lengthwise center crease. Set the figure so the long, flat edge is closest to you and the point is pointed away from you. Bring the left corner of the shape up to the top, and line it with the center point. Crease it well, and unfold.
-
7
Push the left side of the figure up and in toward the center. Fold the top portion of the side toward the left to create the donkey's ears. The resulting figure should resemble a swan. Fold over the triangle flap at the bottom of the figure. Turn it over, and do the same on the other side.
-
8
Hold the right side of the figure, and press it up, in toward the middle, then press it down to create the back legs.
