How to Make a Keychain With a Pendant
Instead of wasting time searching for a sturdy, attractive keychain, make your own from a pendant. Metal or wood pendants are strong enough to handle the constant abuse a keychain can face, which includes coming into contact with keys and other items that cause scratches and general wear. The pendant dangles from the keyring, but not low enough for keys to tangle in the wire. Find the pendant at a craft store, or remove one from a necklace.

1
Measure out and cut a 6-inch piece of jewelry wire.
-
2
Grip one end of the wire with the needle-nosed pliers. Bend the wire end so it hooks around the keyring. Open the pliers to release the wire. Place the keyring in the hook. Wrap two inches of the wire tightly around the keyring.

3
Bend the wire into a "U" shape. Slip the free end of the wire through the loop on the pendant. The pendant will fall to the bottom of the curve. Bend the left side of the "U" to sit next to the right side of the wire. Twist the wires together, leaving a half-inch gap between the bottom of the twist and top of the pendant hoop.

4
Trim off any extra wire with the wire cutters. Position the pliers over the cut end of the wire. Close the pliers and squeeze tightly to flatten any sharp edges on the wire end.
