How to Dissolve Soap in Drains

Use gentle products that wont damage pipes.

Soap scum and residue can build up in your pipes and clog them or make them drain very slowly. Simply pouring water down the drains will not do much to dissolve soap scum, which can be quite resistant to rinsing. Use natural products such as baking soda and white vinegar as they will neither damage your pipes nor pollute your home's air environment.

Things You'll Need

• Baking soda
• White vinegar
• Boiling water

Instructions

1. Pour ½ cup baking soda down the drain.

2. Pour ½ cup white vinegar down the drain.

3. Cover the drain with the drain plug and let it sit for 15 minutes.

4. Boil 2 qt. water and carefully pour it down the drain.

5. Repeat the process if the drains are still clogged or if they are draining slowly.
