How to Loop a Friendship Bracelet
Friendship bracelets are a way for you and your friend to show your friendship to each other. Creating a looped friendship bracelet means the ends can loop around each other to hold your bracelet to your wrist. The loops can then be taken off to remove the bracelet. Creating a looped bracelet requires understanding basic macrame knotting techniques. Macrame knots are complex knots that can take some getting used to tying.

1
Lay your pieces of thread on a table and pull them close together. Use different colored threads to make a multicolored friendship bracelet.
-
2
Bend your threads in the center to create a loop. Pull the ends downward and pull the center of the loop straight to give yourself room to work on the threads.
-
-
3
Measure 6 inches out on each side of the exact center of your strings. Mark the threads on this spot with your marker.
-
4
Start at the marked end farthest from you and pull your right thread underneath of the middle thread. Pull it upward to create two "L" shaped bends. Don't pull it underneath of the left thread.
-
5
Take the end of the left thread underneath the left "L" shape of the right end and over the middle thread. Pull it down through the right "L" shape to create a double "L" shape that intertwines with the other threads.
-
6
Bring the left thread back around to the left and over the middle thread. Make sure it's about an 1/8 inch below the original fold. Bring it underneath the right thread's left double "L." Repeat this process with the other thread to create a macrame knot. Pull them tightly.
-
7
Continue knotting the friendship bracelet until you reach the other mark you made on the threads. The bracelet should be significantly shorter than the original foot due to the knotting.
-
8
Wrap the bracelet around your wrist to see if it fits comfortably. Tie more knots if it needs to be longer or let some out if needs to be shorter.
-
9
Bend the bracelet in the middle and pull the remaining ends of your thread downwards. Tie the three threads together in whatever knot you want at the end of each bracelet side. Pull the remaining strings downward.
-
10
Pick and loop the strings around each other to make a 1/4 inch diameter loop at the end. Cut the ends of the strings and tie them to the bracelet end to create a loop.
-
11
Create a loop in the other end of the bracelet using the same method. However, tie another 2 inches of macrame knots after the loop. Thread one of the strings through a button and tie the thread ends together around the button.
-
12
Put the bracelet around your wrist and pull the button through the loop on the opposite side. Pull the button back toward its original side and bring it through the loop underneath it to close the bracelet and create your loop.
