How to Drop Shots on "Black Ops" for PlayStation 3

"Call of Duty: Black Ops," is part of a series of first-person shooters that has sold over 55 million copies as of August 2011. A common tactic, particularly in online multi-player modes, is to perform a "drop shot" in which a player dives as he encounters an enemy and shoots on the way to the ground, often killing his opponent before his Internet connection can register that a drop shot has occurred. While running and diving, you are also less likely to take bullets, as you are harder to hit.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin a mission on one of the game modes, such as Campaign, Multiplayer, or Zombies. Remember that zombies use their numbers to their advantage and can surround a player who is lying on the ground following the drop shot.

    • 2

Begin running forward, but don't be afraid to run partially at a diagonal to utilize another dimension against enemies firing upon you. Running around corners is a particularly good time to run at a diagonal and is also one of the best scenarios to perform a drop shot.

    • 3

Line your aiming reticule up with an enemy or compensate for where the enemy will be when you begin firing, then hold the "dive" button (by default, the circle button). Immediately upon pressing and holding "circle," your aiming will become smaller and therefore more accurate, ensuring that more of your shots hit your enemy.

    • 4

Pull the trigger, unleashing a spray of bullets that often finishes your opponent off before either player hits the ground.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use an automatic weapon rather than semi-automatic or burst weapons, since these will be more difficult to handle in the fast pace involved with drop-shotting.

  • After diving, you will always finish by being prone on the ground and are susceptible to enemy fire. Remedy this by staying near teammates, avoiding high-traffic lanes and using Spy Planes to read the locations of every enemy not using the "Ghost" perk.
