How to Lower an Awning
Adding an awning to your home, trailer or RV is a great idea for shading windows or a patio area on especially hot days. The process for lowering an awning varies depending on the model you have. The three most common ways of lowering an awning are via a motor, an awning hook or an awning pull strap. Does this Spark an idea?

Move objects, such as furniture or tables, away from the awning.

Stand beside the awning switch away from the awning's arms.

Depending on the model, press or flip the awning's "extend" switch.

Let go of the switch once the awning has lowered if your model requires that you hold the switch during opening.
Awning Hook

Insert the end of the awning hook through the awning gear loop. This loop will be located on one side of the awning.

Stand clear of the awning's arms.

Twist the awning hook clockwise to lower the awning. Continue twisting until it is at the desired length.

Lock the arms to keep them in place. The locking process is different for each model, but typically the arms are secured by pushing them up.
Awning Pull Strap

Unlock the awning arms. The locking mechanisms secure the arms to the side of the home, trailer or RV, and they can be unlocked by twisting them clockwise.

Unlock the awning mechanism by pushing up on it or pulling on it with the awning rod. The awning mechanism is located on the side of the awning.

Insert the awning rod's hook through the loop on the awning pull strap. Pull the rod toward you to lower the awning.

Slide the inner arms of the awning toward the front of the awning until they click. Turn the adjustment knobs counterclockwise to lock the inner arms.
