How to Get the Shield of the Crusader in "Oblivion"
You will go on many quests for legendary items while playing "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion." The main storyline, side quests and add-ons provide hundreds of hours of gameplay, all surrounding the storyline of a former Imperial City prisoner. You seek a legendary piece of armor called the Shield of the Crusader in the "Wisdom of Ages" quest. You will need to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to find this shield, as it is protected by intricate puzzles.

Speak with Sir Henrik, who resides at the Priory of the Nine. He informs you that you must travel to Fort Bulwark to retrieve the shield.

Travel to the red marker on your map, which indicates the location of Fort Bulwark. Enter the fort and keep an eye out for booby traps. Walk through the corridors of the fort, looting crates and barrels until you reach a table with a note. Read the note, then notice the lever on the floor next to the table. Pull the lever to open the nearby gate.

Enter the new area and continue until you reach a balcony. Turn the handle on the balcony to lower the drawbridges. You passed these drawbridges when you first entered the fort, so backtrack to return to them.

Cross the bridges to enter a new room. In this room you'll find four rows of three tiles. You must step on these tiles in the correct pattern in order to open the gates at the end of the room. Start with the first row and make your way forward, stepping in the following pattern: left, middle, right, left.

Release the prisoner from the cell. Continue through the corridors, disposing of any enemies and closely watching for booby traps. At the end of the passageway you'll find a room with four statues.

Turn the handles on each statue to rotate them. Rotate each statue until it is facing the middle of the room. This opens a secret passageway. Enter the final passageway and continue down the corridor until you reach the last puzzle.

Enter the final puzzle room and proceed to the chest in the center of the room. Stand on the pressure plate, which makes an item appear in the chest. Surrounding this central chest are eight statues, each with its own chest. The object is to place this mystery item from the central chest into its matching statue chest. Each time you move an item from the center to a different chest, a new item will appear. Going clockwise starting from the first chest to the right of the room's door, the items match up in the following pattern: book, hammer, skull, gem, stone, helm, goblet, sword. A new door will open once you place each item in its correct chest.

Enter the door, walk toward the altar and take the Shield of the Crusader. A new door will open, which leads directly to the Fort's entryway.
