Cox Webmail Troubleshooting

Cox Communications is a company that provides TV, phone and Internet services to more than a dozen states in the U.S. As part of its Internet service, Cox offers customers up to 10 email addresses that can be managed through the Cox WebMail portal. As with any Webmail provider, Cox customers may occasionally encounter issues managing their Webmail accounts. Knowing how to troubleshoot Cox WebMail can help you solve these problems.

      Check your Internet connection if you are having trouble accessing the Cox WebMail portal via your Web browser.

      Enable the HTML Editor to add smiley faces and links to your Cox WebMail messages or change your font color and size. Log in to your Webmail account, and click the "Settings" button. Click the "Preferences" link in the Message Settings window. Click the checkbox next to "By default, compose messages using the graphical editor"; then click the "OK" button.

      Allow the HTML Editor up to two minutes to automatically install the Java Applet if you are using the HTML Editor for the first time. Once the Java Applet is installed, the HTML Editor will load within seconds. If you receive a message that Java is not installed on your computer or enabled on your browser, click the link included with the message to be taken to Java.com to download Java. Follow the instructions on Java.com to install or enable Java.

      Empty the trash and spam folders in Cox WebMail if you receive a warning that you are in danger of reaching your 2GB storage space capacity. Log in to your Webmail account, and click the "Manage Folders" link under the My Account menu. Click the "empty" icon next to the trash or spam folder, then click the "OK" button to empty the folder.

      Update your time zone if Cox WebMail is displaying an incorrect time zone, which by default is Eastern Standard Time. Log in to your Webmail account, and click the "Settings" button at the top of the screen. Click the "Time Zone" link; then select your time zone from the list.

      Block someone from emailing your Cox WebMail account by adding them to your blocked list. Log in to your Webmail account, and click on the email address of the person you want to block. Click the checkbox next to the email address; then click the "Block Sender" button. Click the checkbox next to the email address on the next screen; then click the "OK" and "Close" buttons.

      Reactivate a Cox WebMail account that has been locked after 90 days of inactivity. Click the "Internet" link next to My Services, under the My Connection tab on the Cox homepage. Log in to your Internet Tools account, and click the "Email" link under the My Account menu. Click the "Reactivate" link next to the Webmail account that has been locked to reactivate it.
