How to Make a Tail for a Reindeer
A life size reindeer tail is approximately 10 to 12 inches long. If you're making a miniature one or one for display you can make it whatever size you like. The underside of a reindeer tail is white. They use this to indicate danger to other reindeer. Brown and white fake fur is available at some major retail stores and most craft or fabric shops. Only a small piece is needed to create one tail.

1
Cut an elongated oval of both colors of fur. For a life size tail cut the fabric 12 inches long and 5 inches wide at the largest width of the oval.
-
2
Trim one end of the ovals into a pointed shape. Cut 1 inch from the other end, so that the end no longer has a point, but is flat across the top of tail.

3
Lay the two pieces together with the fur to the inside, exactly matching the edges.
-
4
Sew a seam around the two long sides, leaving the bottom straight edge open.
-
5
Turn the tail right side out and stuff it with a light filling of fiber fill. It is not a heavy bushy tail so it does not have to be stuffed tight. Brush the hair on the tail, if needed. Sew the open end closed or attach it to your reindeer.
