How Do I Add a Recent Post to My WordPress Footer From Another WordPress Blog?

The Wordpress content management system/blog engine is pre-configured to use Really Simple Syndication, which makes it easy for you to syndicate content between blogs and websites. The Wordpress system comes with an RSS widget by default, which means you can easily display a recent post from another Wordpress blog in your footer. The process only works if your theme has footer widgets. If your theme doesn't have a footer widget displayed in the widget panel, you will need to install another theme.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the RSS feed for the Wordpress site you want to include. The default feed address for the Wordpress CMS is www.[website].com/feed. Copy the feed address.

    • 2

Sign in to your Wordpress site. Click on "Widgets" in the appearance sidebar.

    • 3

Click on the "Footer" widget to expand it. Click on the "RSS" widget in the center column and drag it into the footer widget.

    • 4

Click on the "RSS" widget to open the options panel. Paste the site's feed address into the "Feed" box.

    • 5

Select the number of posts you want to display in the footer. If you only want to show one post, select "1."

    • 6

Choose whether you want to display an image or not, and then choose if you want to display a snippet or the full post. If you want to display the full post, contact the blog author first to ask for permission. Click on "Save." The blog's latest post(s) will now be displayed in your footer.
