How to Reinforce Toes on Tights
Tights are comfortable and slim down the figure for wearing dresses, skirts or with a oversized top. Depending on the density of the fabric, your tights pose issues with tearing occurring at the toes. Reinforcing the toes of your tights saves the fabric for future wear. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- Knitted stretch cotton fabric (same color as your tights)
- Sewing chalk
- Pins
- Scissors
- Needle
- Thread

Turn your tights inside out and lay them on a flat surface. Measure the width of your feet at their widest section over the top of your feet. Lay your knitted stretch fabric out and place your feet on top of it. Trace outlines of your feet, one foot at a time, with the sewing chalk. Cut the fabric along your trace lines.

Draw a line on your fabric that is of equal width as your foot, per the measurements you took in step one. Place the arch of your foot over the line you just drew and trace around the front of your foot from one end of your arch to the other. Cut out the fabric along your trace lines.

Insert your feet into the tights and place the bottom cutouts on the bottom portion of your feet. Carefully pin the cutouts in place, then move on to pinning the cutouts that belong on the top portion of the foot in place. Take the tights off carefully. .

Sew the cutouts onto the feet of your tights by sewing along the pins. Remove the pins as you sew. Turn your tights inside out and enjoy your new, reinforced toe tights
