Removing Permanent Marker out of Clothing

All of us at some point in time have been in a situation where we get a stain on our clothes and had to remove it. Most stains are easy to remove, but others, like permanent markers, are hard to remove. Sometimes the stain sets, which makes it even harder to remove. However, these tips will help you get rid of those ugly permanent stains to make your clothes look good as new.
Work from the back of the fabric and not from the front of the fabric when you are removing a permanent marker stain. Working back to front will not allow the stain to dig deeper into the fabric and make it harder to remove. Use cold water instead of hot water, as hot water sets stains. Most permanent marker stains happen when one hasn't acted quickly enough.

The first step is to soak the garment in cold water. If you are at home, try using a mild dishwashing liquid and blot a little until the stain is loosened. By acting quickly, your washing machine should take the permanent marker stain out completely. Remember to use cold water, as the hot water will set the stain so that it may be next to impossible to remove. Run the cold water on the stain until it is clear. If this doesn't work, try pre-treating the stain before you throw it in the machine. If it doesn't work after a few attempts, a professional might have to dry clean it for you.
If you are in a situation where you can't remove your garment, use vinegar, nail polish remover or clear soda water to remove the stain. Vlot the stain until it is removed. The second step is to have enough paper towels underneath your garment that has the stain. Lay your garment face down on the towels and work from the back of the stain to avoid the stain going deeper into the fabric. Change paper towels as needed.

Other ways to remove a permanent marker stain are to use home remedies such as toothpaste, nail polish remover or WD-40. You use these methods the same way by applying a little bit onto the garment and then blot until the stain is removed.
