C-Band Satellite Guide
Satellite communication is more than just pointing a dish at the right spot in space. A variety of frequency bands exist on which orbiting satellites transmit data to Earth and satellite dishes send data back. One of the most ubiquitous satellite bands is the C-band.

Identification
-
C-band is one of two most common frequencies in which video satellite transmissions are received and the one most frequently used by communications satellites.
Frequencies
-
For transmissions coming from a satellite, the C-band uses frequencies between 3.7 and 4.2 gigahertz. For transmissions to orbiting satellites, uplinks, C-band uses frequencies between 5.925 and 6.425 gigahertz.

C-Band Dishes
-
Satellite dishes capable of supporting C-band frequencies have been termed Big Ugly Dishes. This is because they are typically 3 to 9 feet across, a dish size significantly larger than those used by other frequencies.
