A Comparison of the Roomba 400 Series

Each member of the Roomba 400 Series of automatic vacuums has the same core cleaning options to keep your floors clear of dirt, but there are a few key differences in the models.

Cleaning

The Roomba 400 model has only one cleaning mode, "Clean," which sets the device out an automated cleaning session. The 410, 435 and 440 models have an additional "Spot" mode, allowing them to vigorously vacuum a particular area. The 411, 419, 420 and 434 models have one extra cleaning mode called "Max," which does a thorough clean until the unit runs out of power.

Virtual Wall

The 400 does not come with a virtual wall, while the other Roomba models do. This wall, which utilizes infrared beams, creates a barrier that the Roomba does not pass.

Dirt Detect

The 422, 419, 420 and 434 have an automatic feature called Dirt Detect. When the Roomba senses extra dirt, is does a more thorough job on the area.
