Dodge 1-Ton Flatbed Truck Specifications

The 2011 Dodge 3500 is a 1-ton truck. Dodge dealers sell the 3500 as a cab and chassis only for conversion to a flatbed configuration. The most common engine for the one-ton model is the turbo diesel.

Powertrain

The 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 is equipped with a 6.7-liter Cummins in-line six-cylinder turbo diesel engine delivering 350 horsepower and 650 foot-pounds of torque. A six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission matches the engine, according to Dodge. The automatic transmission features an electronic system that permits the driver to use a manual function to allow downshifting and upshifting to adapt to road and speed conditions.

Capacities

The 1-ton version of the 2011 Ram truck features a towing capacity of up to 17,600 lbs. The payload capacity, which includes cargo on the flatbed and up to six occupants in the cab, can handle up to 5,130 lbs.

Suspension

Two-wheel drive versions of the Ram 3500 have a front long- and short-arm independent suspension system with stabilizer bars. The four-wheel drive model has a front five-link suspension system with coil springs, anti-sway bar and beam axle. The rear suspension system on the two- and four-wheel drive models is equipped with a solid rear axle and leaf springs, with separate auxiliary spring leaves to handle the heavy payload.
