The Specifications for a 1973 Yamaha CT3 175 Enduro

The 1973 Yamaha CT3 was part of the CT/DT 175 series. Yamaha produced the CT1 from 1969 until 1971, the CT2 in 1972 and the CT3 in 1973. In 1974 Yamaha changed the model name to DT, but the bike stayed relatively unchanged.

Engine Design

The Yamaha CT3 used a single-cylinder, two-stroke engine design. The drivetrain used a chain-driven system and the transmission was a five-speed. The cooling system used an air-cooled design and the fuel control system was membrane operated. The 1974 DT model stayed relatively the same, except for a modified crankcase.

Performance

Total piston displacement measured 171 cc, or 10.4 cubic inches. The maximum power output of the CT3 was 14 hp at 6,350 rpm and the motorbike had a top speed of 75 mph. The piston's compression ratio was 6.8-to-1 and it had a bore by stroke that measured 2.6 by 2 inches.

Dimensions and Equipment

The total fuel capacity of the tank measured 1.85 gallons and the curb weight -- with all fluids and a full fuel-tank -- was 236 lbs. The front tire dimension was 2.75-21 and the rear tire dimensions measured 3.5-18. The front and rear brakes both employed expanding brake units.
