Specifications for a 1995 FL70 Freightliner

Freightliner specializes in manufacturing heavy-duty, medium-duty and special-purpose trucks, including the Columbia, Freightliner Super Duty and the Century Class model lines. Of all truck manufacturers, Freightliner offers the largest network of service support and dealer services with locations in all 50 U.S. states, Canada and abroad.

  1. Engine

    • The 1995 FL-70 used a Caterpillar C12 engine that generated 430 horsepower at 1,600 rpm, and 1,650 foot-pounds of torque at 1,200 rpm. It had a cylinder diameter (bore) of 5.1 inches, a stroke (piston travel distance) of 5.9 inches, and it displaced 732 cubic inches of air and fuel volume during a full cycle (displacement).

    Drivetrain and Suspension

    • As with most medium- and heavy-duty Freightliner trucks, the FL-70 used an Allison transmission; specifically, model MD (medium duty) 3060 with electronic shift control. The truck employed a Meritor front drive-965 (FD) front axle, which was rated at 10,000 pounds. The Meritor RS-21-145 single-drive axle was used in the rear, which had a weight rating of 21,000 pounds. An 11,00 pound-rated taper leaf suspension was used in the front, and a Freightliner Airliner suspension was used in the rear, which was capable of handling a cargo weight of 21,000 pounds.

    Other Features

    • The FL-70's interior features included Bostrom air-suspension driver and passenger seats, air and heat with cab recirculation, and self-resetting circuit breakers. The motor came with a standard turbocharger, electronic self-diagnostics and reprogrammable vehicle operating parameters.
