What Is an Eye Gaze?

The Eyegaze System allows children and adults with cerebral palsy, brain or spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis and other diseases or conditions to control their surroundings and communicate with others, using advanced-eye recognition software.

  1. Controlling the Immediate Environment

    • The user sits in front of a monitor. A video camera attached to the monitor employs specially designed software to read the movements of the user's eye. The monitor displays keys for controlling everything from appliances to lights, to controlling various communications programs.

    Communicating

    • Eyegaze users can use special keys to read text. Non-verbal users can program common phrases for the Eyegaze to say. Users can also make and receive calls, and non-verbal users can talk by using a speech synthesizer.

    Other Features

    • Eyegaze remote video tracking requires no attachments. The system works with most contact lenses and eyeglasses. With a calibration procedure that lasts only 15 seconds, and portable versions simple to carry, the Eyegaze is both efficient and mobile.
