The tires that come with your new RAV4 are the original equipment manufacturer's (OEM) tires. Toyota has used several different OEM suppliers for its tires; the recommended mileage of these tires is 40,000 to 50,000 miles.

Mileage or Years

With a mileage limitation of 50,000 miles, the typical RAV4 tire should last at least that long. These RAV4 tires should last for 50,000 miles or three years, whichever comes first. If the year limitation is up, consider changing your tires, even if you have plenty of mileage to go.

Warning

If most of the driving you do is in the two-wheel-drive mode on the highway, your tires will last longer than if you regularly took to the dirt mounds of the backwoods for off-road travel. It is possible that because of your style of driving, your tires will be worn long before the mileage or time limitations are up.

Check Your Tread

Insert a penny into the center tread of each tire. If you can still see Abraham Lincoln's head, you will need to replace your tires. Check for uneven wear on the tires, which could indicate an alignment problem.
