Can Hot Tub Temperature Be Turned Low in Winter?
While you can use your hot tub during the winter, you may find that lowering the temperature and partially winterizing the unit is better for you. Most spas and hot tubs allow you to reduce the water temperature without causing too many problems if the tub is cared for properly. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Facts
-
Many hot tubs have an economy setting that allows you to save money on energy. This setting will lower the water temperature to about 20 degrees cooler than the set temperature. Additionally, hot tubs often have a safety system that kicks in to prevent the tub's plumbing from freezing.
Features
-
To fully winterize your spa, you will need to drain the water and flush out the plumbing. This ensures that no standing water remains in the pipes that can damage them. This is an alternative to simply lowering the tub's water temperature.

Considerations
-
When lowering the water temperature in your hot tub, it will take some time for the water to heat back up when you want to use the tub. During extremely cold winter weather, the tub will often take longer than usual to heat.
