The KLR 650 is designed for those who enjoy long rides.

The 2009 KLR 650 is a touring bike designed with world travelers in mind. Suitable for the street or off-road and available in red, blue or black, the Kawasaki KLR 650 features a large fuel tank for longer cruising.

  1. Engine

    • The KLR 650 features a four-stroke, double overhead camshaft four-valve engine, which displaces 651 cc. The bore is 3.9 inches, the stroke is 3.3 inches and the engine's compression ratio is 9.8:1. With a fully transistorized ignition system and a Keihin CVK40 carburetor, the KLR 650 delivers its power through a five-speed chain-driven gearbox.

    Brakes and Wheels

    • The front tire dimensions are 90/90x21; the rear measures 130/80x17. Single disc brakes are fitted front and rear. A telescopic fork handles suspension in the front, giving 7.9 inches of travel. A UNI-TRAK single shock is at the rear, allowing for 7.3 inches of travel.

    Dimensions

    • The 2009 KLR 650 measures 90.4 inches long, 37.8 inches wide 53.1 inches high, with a ground clearance of 8.3 inches. It has a seat height of 35 inches and a wheelbase of 58.3 inches. The bike weighs 432 lbs. fully fueled and has a fuel capacity of 6.1 gallons.
