There are certain compatibity issues with Palm software and Windows 7.

The software required to do a Hotsync with a Palm Pilot has compatibility issues with a certain version of Windows 7 software. The issue can be resolved by doing a Hotsync wirelessly, if your handheld and computer meet the minimum requirements.

  1. Compatibility Issues

    • An issue that many people have with Palm HotSync and Windows 7 is that USB HotSync is not supported on 64-bit versions. The only way to HotSync with Windows 7 64-bit is to synchronize through a Bluetooth wireless connection. However, Windows 7 32-bit will work with the HotSync software.

    Palm Not Connecting

    • If your Windows 7 computer is not recognizing that your Palm is plugged in, be sure to check and make sure you do not have the 64-bit version. You can check by clicking "Start" and right-clicking on "Computer." After clicking on "Computer," click "Properties." Your "System" should say that you have a 32-bit Operating System. If not, you will need to configure your Bluetooth connection.

No Connection With Correct Windows Version

    • If your Palm seems not to be connecting for a HotSync and you do have the 32-bit operating system, there are a few troubleshooting tips you can try. Resetting your device with the reset button on the back will sometimes solve this issue. If not, try to disconnect and reconnect your Palm device from your computer. Make sure your cable is completely connected. If it is still not connecting, uninstall and reinstall your Palm Desktop software.
