Digital Cable Vs. Coaxial Cable
Coaxial cable is the type of cable through which analog signals are transmitted. Digital cable is newer and offers many features that analog can't -- such as HD television, On Demand programs, and Parental Control features.

Similarities
-
Both types of cable transmit signals, which then turn into pictures on television screens.
Digital Cable
-
Digital cable signals are transferred over flexible fiber lines, not cables, and the data lines are made of zeroes and ones. These have a higher capacity, allowing a higher image quality.
-
Analog Cable
-
Analog cable is older than digital cable. The signal is transmitted through a coaxial cable, which is made with a copper wire. Analog cable signals can be disrupted fairly easily and the quality can be poor.
Pricing
-
Digital cable costs more than analog cable does, but offers more channels and features.
