Shaving Gel Vs. Foam Comparisons

Shaving Gel Vs. Foam Comparisons thumbnail
Use either shaving gel or foam for a close, irritation-free shave.

Shaving gel and shaving foam differ, although both are made of similar ingredients. Use one or the other to get an effective, close shave without risk of irritating your skin. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Shaving Gel

    • Shaving gel is more expensive than foam and is more effective, with less needed to get a good shave. Shaving gel works better than foam on thick hair. Gel is often colored and transparent, allowing you to see the hair better for greater accuracy while shaving.

    Shaving Foam

    • Shaving foam is a liquid containing little bubbles that froth when dispensed from the can. The foam softens hair, making it easier to shave. Shaving foam is less expensive than shaving gel, but a greater amount of foam than gel is needed to get the best shave.

    Why Use Either?

    • If you use neither shaving foam nor gel, your shave likely will not be as close or smooth as it would be if you use either product. You may wind up with red skin, razor burns or cuts. Shaving foam or gel is especially helpful if you have sensitive skin.
