Notebook Vs. Tablet PC

Notebook Vs. Tablet PC thumbnail
Tablet PCs are a type of notebook computer that has many unique features.

When purchasing a portable computer, you may encounter several different makes and models. Notebooks are made by many different manufacturers, yet most contain similar features. Lately, there has been a rise in the popularity of tablet computers, which feature many radical departures from the classic hardware configuration of notebooks.

  1. Notebooks

    • Notebooks are classified as personal computers designed for mobile use. Notebooks contain battery packs that allow them to operate without connection to a wall outlet. Additionally, most notebooks include wireless network connectivity to access the Internet. Most notebooks are also lightweight, and include a full-size keyboard, internal speakers, USB slots and a trackpad instead of a mouse. Nearly every computer manufacturer develops both desktop and notebook computers.

    Tablets

    • Tablets are a specialized type of notebook in which a touchscreen serves as the primary input. Depending on the model, some tablet PCs may not even use a hard keyboard. The operating system of a tablet provides an on-screen keyboard to navigate certain applications. Handwriting can be recognized, as can gesture inputs and tablet pen writing. Modern tablet computers use multi-touch capacitive.

    Tablet Advantages and Disadvantages

    • Tablet PCs feature more mobility than traditional notebooks, due to the often absent keyboard attachment. They are also often more lightweight than most notebooks, and consume much less power. Tablets, however, can cost significantly more than other notebooks. Also, handwriting can be much slower than traditional keyboard input when writing lengthy documents and emails. Due to the amount of hand-resting directly on the screen, Tablets are also more susceptible to smudges and dirt collection.
