Kenworth semi trucks manufactured after 1981 have a unique, 17-character VIN (vehicle identification number) used to identify it specifically for all legal purposes. The VIN, when decoded, identifies particular features of the vehicle and includes a serial number.
The VIN is printed on the "Tire, Rim, Certification and Weight Rating Data Label" on tractors (semis). For trucks that are not fully assembled, it's found on the "Incomplete Vehicle Certification Label."
Kenworth certification labels are riveted to the driver's door along the edge or to the door frame.
Kenworth VINs appear on the truck's bill of sale, title, registration card, warranty and insurance policy. Any document that requires specific identification of the particular vehicle includes the VIN.
