Tiara Glass was a line of glassware marketed by Tiara Exclusives from 1970 until 1998. Tiara was owned by Lancaster Colony Corporation. The glassware included dishes and accessories in a variety of colors and patterns. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. History

    • The Tiara Exclusives line was headquartered in Dunkirk, Indiana and was adjacent to the Indiana Glass Company, which was also owned by Lancaster and produced the bulk of the Tiara line. Some pieces were also made by Fenton Art Glass and L.E. Smith. More limited pieces were made by the Duncan and Miller Glass Company.

    Sandwich Glass

    • Most of Tiara's products were copies of the Sandwich Glass pattern. These Tiara patterns were reproductions of glass items made during the Depression years. Depression glass was popular in the 1920s and Tiara revived that interest in the 1970s.

    Colors

    • The primary color of Tiara Sandwich glass was amber, but the company called it "gold" or "golden amber." Tiara also sold Sandwich glass in clear, light "chantilly" green, teal "spruce" green, dark "bicentennial" blue and pale peach.

    Types

    • The Tiara line included full sets of dinnerware. Wall clocks, trays, lamps, butter dishes and gravy boats were also made in matching colors. The matching wine sets included decanters and goblets.
