Instructions on Gin Rummy
Gin rummy is a two-person card game in which the object is to combine cards into runs of three or four cards in a row from the same suit, or into sets of three or four cards of the same value.
-
Rules
-
The two players alternate dealing. Each player receives 10 cards, with the next card in the deck turned face up to start a discard pile. The rest of the deck is turned face down. Before playing, the players sort their cards to see if they have the beginnings of any runs or sets.
Playing
-
Taking turns, each player has to either draw the top card from the deck or take the top card on the discard pile, which is visible to both players. The player must then discard one card from his hand.
-
Conclusion
-
Once one player can sort all the cards in his hands into sets and runs, he places a card on the discard pile face down to indicate that he has gin. The other player must then place his own cards face up and try to find as many runs and sets as possible.
Scoring
-
After both players have presented their final hands, the losing player adds the points of any cards not yet in sets or runs. Those points accrue to the winning player. The game continues until one player has reached 100 points.
