The 2001 Ford V-10 engine, which is tabbed as the Triton V-10, is the largest gasoline engine offered in Ford Trucks and SUVs. This engine was available in two vehicles in 2001, the F-350 Super-Duty and the Ford Excursion.

  1. Horsepower

    • This 6.8-liter V-10 usually does a lot of towing and heavy hauling, so it needs maximum horsepower (hp). This engine produces 310 hp at 4,250 rpm.

    Torque

    • Torque is the twisting power that the engine produces, which directly affects initial acceleration. The 2001 6.8-liter V-10 produces 425 foot-pounds of torque at 3,250 rpm.

    Internals

    • This engine is a single-overhead-cam (SOHC) 16-valve (16V) configuration. It has a bore, or cylinder width, of 3.55-inches and a stroke (the distance the piston travels inside the cylinder) of 4.16 inches. The overall displacement is 6,801 cubic centimeters (cc). Lastly, it has a compression ratio of 9.0:1.
