Natural ant repellents are safe to use indoors.

Using pesticides in your home is dangerous because the chemicals can harm pets and kids. Natural ant repellents keep ants away from your home but are also safe, even if the products touch your cookware or dishes. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Types

    • Natural ant repellents consist of dry products, including cayenne pepper, bay leaves, black pepper and cinnamon. Wet ingredients include vinegar and molasses, which also serves as a natural killer of the pests.

    Uses

    • Sprinkle the dry ingredients around the house, especially in areas where ants reside. Spray down surfaces where you see ants, with distilled white or apple cider vinegar. All the scents repel the ants naturally. Two parts molasses mixed with one part sugar and one part yeast acts as a natural ant killer.

    Warning

    • When using the molasses mixture, place it inside a plastic bowl and poke holes in the lid or sides of the bowl. This keeps pets and kids from getting into the mixture. The yeast explodes when ingested, causing the ants to die.
