-
Distribution
-
Open source software classification requires that the software be free to edit and redistribute royalty free. The software must include source code and allow distribution in compiled form as well as allow user modifications and derived works.
No Discrimination
-
The license for open source software must not discriminate against any person or group or restrict the program from use in any particular field. Open source programs must allow business use, genetic research use and use with any other public or private endeavor.
-
Licensing Requirements
-
Users cannot attach open source software to a particular product, or restrict the types of programs distributed with the software. Open source programs must also have licenses that are not reliant upon the use of an individual technology or interface.
