Meaning

The reconcile function on a BlackBerry means to make the email messages the same on the phone as they are on the email server. The reconcile function basically syncs the email messages efficiently between both locations.

Example

For example, if you delete a Gmail e-mail on your BlackBerry device, using reconcile, that message should also delete on the Gmail Web server. Also, if you send a message directly from Gmail on your computer, it should also be reconciled to the "sent messages" on your BlackBerry device.

Email set-up

If you have a POP email account on your BlackBerry, reconcile does not function. Reconcile only matters if you have an IMAP email account or a BlackBerry Enterprise Server email account.
