A mobile phone mast, also referred to as a cell tower or base transceiver station, is a piece of equipment designed to facilitate wireless communication between a network and UE, or user equipment. Examples of UE devices include mobile phones and WiFi.

A mobile phone mast assists the transmission of radio signals between mobile cellular devices in a network. A network is commonly comprised of certain areas of land, or cells. Each network cell is served by one or multiple mobile phone masts. A mobile phone mast can take the form of a dedicated vertical tower or an antenna device mounted on a building.

The mobile phone mast is comprised of such items as a antenna for signal reception, a power amplifier and a transceiver device, which acts as a combined transceiver and receiver.
