Meat Free Diet Plan

Meat Free Diet Plan thumbnail
Vegetarians often eat beans for protein.

People eat a meat-free diet for many reasons. Some believe a meat-free diet is healthier than one containing meat. Others do not want to kill animals. They eat other sources of protein as well as fruits, vegetables and grains.

  1. Dairy Products

    • Some people that follow a meat-free diet plan also avoid dairy products, but others use a variety of dairy foods. Dairy products are a good source of protein and include milk, yogurt, cottage cheese and other cheeses.

    Beans

    • Beans, including kidney beans, pinto beans, navy beans and black beans, provide a good source of protein and fiber. People that follow a meat-free diet plan utilize beans in a variety of dishes including soups, casseroles, stews and chili.

    Soy Proteins

    • Soy beans, tofu and other soy products offer another good source of protein. You can purchase veggie burgers and other meat substitutes made from soy. Available products include soy crumbles that resemble ground beef, soy hotdogs, soy sausages and a chicken-like product made from soy.
