Feet Pain & the Benefit of Rebounding

Feet Pain & the Benefit of Rebounding thumbnail
Lower your chance of foot injuries by adhering to exercise guidelines.

Rebounding is exercise that involves bouncing on a small trampoline-like device and is considered beneficial to many areas of body. The exercise may cause foot and ankle pain when performed incorrectly.

  1. Significance

    • Rebounding was developed to promote balance, as well as to improve muscle tone and relaxation for those with special needs. Healing HQ reports that some doctors recommend the exercise as an ideal way to regulate body fluids and keep the immune system healthy.

    Effects

    • According to Body Ecology, a danger of rebounding is pronation due to an excessive inward twist of the foot. The injury results in additional stress to the feet and ankles. Supination may also occur after an insufficient roll of the foot upon landing, and may lead to Achilles tendinitis or plantar fasciitis.

    Prevention/Solution

    • Reduce your risk for injury by placing more weight on the outside of the foot when landing so your heel meets the mat at 90-degree angle. The sides of your feet should ideally absorb 25 percent of the impact, allowing your heel to absorb the rest.
