Applying extensions involves sewing, weaving, clamping, bonding or clipping pieces of human or synthetic hair to your natural hair. Application method directly affects damage potential. Sewing, weaving and clamping techniques cause little or no damage when done correctly, while heat and glue bonding may scorch or split the hair. Clip-in extensions can be applied and removed daily with virtually no harm.

Improper application or care of extensions may cause pulling, itching, headaches and breakage. The wrong brush or brushing technique can rip hair at the roots, extension attachment and ends.
