Terminator Mustang Information

The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was first manufactured by the Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) in 1980 as a prototype car. During the development of the 2003 Cobra SVT, the team codenamed it "Terminator," which became the common name for the 2003 and the 2004 models.

  1. The Engine

    • In 2003, Ford produced a total of 13,476 units of the Mustang Terminator.

The 2003 model's 4.6-liter, 32-valve V-8 engine was equipped with an Eaton supercharger and aluminum alloy cylinder heads. Compared to the previous model-year, the 2003 Mustang Terminator's horsepower increased from 390 to 690, and from 390 foot-pounds of torque to 620. To provide the strength necessary for the increased torque output, the new Cobra engine was built on a cast-iron block.

    The Body

    • In 2003, a new integrated spoiler with an LED third brake light was added to the rear of the Cobra SVT. On the front, the fascia and the hood were modified to create a more aggressive look while at the same time allowing more air flow to the engine compartment.

    2004 Mustang Terminator

    • In 2004, Ford produced only 5,664 units of the Cobra SVT. The only updates from the 2003 model included new paint color options, some minor interior changes and a slightly updated exhaust system. The latter helped avoid a higher sticker price due to the addition of the Gas Guzzler Tax on particularly fuel-inefficient cars
